Around 15 miles off of the Western Highway you will find the Rio On Pools. Though the road to these beautiful water features is a little rustic, the scenery that you will pass on your drive is simply stunning. Once you reach your destination, you will soon see what all the fuss was about. These ponds are a tranquil oasis where you can slide down rocks, relax beneath a waterfall, or just sit and enjoy the view.
Of course, if you really want to see some impressive waterfalls, you will need to hop back into your car and head over to Big Rock Waterfalls. This stunning waterfall cascades some 150 feet into the Privassion River, creating a spectacle like nowhere else on earth. When you see it you will understand why it is always such a popular attraction.
To take your waterfall-ing to the next level, a trip to the Thousand Foot Falls is in order. This massive cascading body of water is believed to be the tallest waterfall in Central America. Despite what you might think by looking at its name, this waterfall does not actually drop 1,000 feet. Instead, this waterfall is an impressive 1,600 feet tall.
Of course, the Mountain Pine Ridge Nature Reserve also offers visitors the chance to see the Rio Frio Cave. On warm days, this shady attraction offers weary travelers the chance to escape from the sun. Once you get inside, you can see massive stalactites, huge boulders, and even a running stream.
